AUDIENCE: The main target audience is for teenagers to young adults. Although there is nothing to explicit in the music video, it uses connotations of torture and death, which arent suitable themes for young children. We followed the ideas of feminist views, the video would mainly attracted females rather than males as the women are the protagonists and are more superior to the males, This also creating more of a niche audience as it more specific to the individual.
RESUME: A cult of teenage girls take on revenge to male characters for unknown reasons. The characters subvert the stereotype of a passive woman, by being more superior to the males, through torture and lack of feminity. To emphasise the stereotype we used Barbie dolls. The Barbie doll is seen to be feminine, passive and the appearance of the ‘perfect girl.’ We contradict this by changing the appearance through hair and make up, creating a more masculine and original look. Also by having the Barbies torture the male dolls. The male dolls are action men, another common known toy which represents the masculine and strong male, which in our video these dolls are seen looking timid, hanging partially naked by the legs.
SUGGESTED ELEMENTS:Extravagant make up and costumes to subvert a female stereotype, creating a dominant and threatening appearance of the girls.
Animals; Tarantula and snakes to connote the dominance and power of the characters, also signifies the thriller genre of the video.
Dolls; Barbie dolls and Action Men to re-act the characters action in stop motion.
Lots of female actors to emphasise the cult and dominance of women.
